METAIRIE, LA – St. Tammany Sheriff Randy Smith announced today that he will seek re-election to continue to protect and serve Louisiana’s fourth most populous parish.
Said Smith, “I am very proud of our work over the past six and half years to protect our people and property. Morale is at an all-time high because our deputies are well-equipped, paid fairly, and they have been immensely successful in keeping our community safe. There’s no doubt that we have raised the standards of professionalism. But we have done so by supporting the men and women who work tirelessly to ensure the public’s safety and ensuring they have the tools and training they need to fight crime today. I am honored to protect this community and stand strong with this crime-fighting force that has made St. Tammany safe.”
Last year, the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office fielded over 8,400 dispatch calls. The agency achieved impressive results when it came to solving crimes. In 2022, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office had a 100% clearance rate for the parish’s eight homicides. The Sheriff’s department scored a 92% solve rate on violent crimes which is more than 100% better than the national average. And, regarding property crimes, the Sheriff’s Office clearance rate in 2022 was over three times the national average. Said Smith, “Our message to criminals is strong. If you commit a crime here, we will bring you to justice.”
In his last term, Smith continued to bring upgrades to the department including outfitting all deputies with body cameras to ensure transparency and accountability. Under the Sheriff, deputies are trained on how to manage mental health calls, an escalating challenge for all police departments. To ensure retention and to acquire the top recruits, Smith invested in his personnel with improved wages and benefits. The sheriff sent a strong message in his fight against crime when adding a strategically located new police district to improve response time for 100,000 residents. Sheriff Smith relocated the 3rd District Station to Highway 59 near Interstate 12 across from Fontainebleau Junior High and High School to better protect the public, and he brought the large-scale project in under budget.
The St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office under Smith continues to provide resource officers to 27 public schools to further protect our children and give parents peace of mind. Technology is upgraded regularly to guarantee that officers have the best crime fighting equipment in their fight against crime. And the Sheriff has invested in a new mobile command center and a state-of-the-art drone unit to allow the department’s crimefighters to manage any crisis from the scene.
Said Smith, “We’ve enjoyed success in protecting our parish, but will never rest on our laurels. We will continue to stay up to date with the latest and most reliable crime-fighting equipment and training. I will also work to heighten our presence across this expansive parish. I plan on building a new Fourth District station in Bush which will remove deputies from the current trailer they operate from within. I will also seek federal funding to build a state-of-the-art training facility at the Brownswitch location in Slidell. This alone will help us attract and retain the best of the best in law enforcement.” Sheriff Randy Smith is a 36-year veteran of policing. He was first elected Sheriff of St. Tammany Parish in 2016 and was re-elected in 2019. Prior to that, he led the Slidell Police Department as Chief of the Police for six years. Smith is a Republican.

Tbilisi, Georgia — Jailed journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli gets weaker every day as her hunger strike has reached three weeks in Rustavi, a town near the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, her lawyer says. Now the 49-year-old is having difficulty walking the short distance from her cell to the room where they usually meet, and human rights officials, colleagues and family fear for her life.
kra28.at
Amaghlobeli was arrested Jan. 12 during an anti-government protest in the coastal city of Batumi, one of over 40 people in custody on criminal charges from a series of demonstrations that have hit the South Caucasus nation of 3.7 million in recent months.

The political turmoil follows a parliamentary election that was won by the ruling Georgian Dream party, although its opponents allege the vote was rigged.
Protests highlight battle over Georgia’s future. Here’s why it matters.
Its outcome pushed Georgia further into Russia’s orbit of influence. Georgia aspired to join the European Union, but the party suspended accession talks with the bloc after the election.
As it sought to cement its grip on power, Georgian Dream has cracked down on freedom of assembly and expression in what the opposition says is similar to President Vladimir Putin’s actions in neighboring Russia, its former imperial ruler.

Hey people,
I’ve been exploring the world of virtual casinos lately, and I’ve gotta say — it’s surprisingly fun. At first, I was a bit wary. I mean, how do you even rely on an online platform with your money, right? But after spending hours researching (and trying out a few questionable sites so you don’t have to), I figured out a few things that distinguish a reliable casino from a total scam. First off, if you’re new to all this, here’s the golden rule: **check the license**. If a casino doesn’t have a proper license (like from the Malta Gaming Authority or the UK Gambling Commission), just walk away. No bonus is worth the gamble of never seeing your funds again. Also — and I know no one wants to — go through the small print. That’s the only way to know what kind of hidden traps they’ve slapped onto those so-called “generous” bonuses.
Now, let me share a site I’ve been hooked on these last few weeks. It’s been a total win. The interface? Super easy to navigate. Payouts? Quick — like 24 hours quick. And the game selection? *Wild*. Slots, live dealers, blackjack, even some unique stuff I hadn’t tried before. Check it out here: https://animeportal.cl/Comunidad/index.php?action=profile;u=601829 What really impressed me was the customer service. I had a tiny issue with a bonus not working, and they got back to me in like instantly. Compare that to other sites where you’re just left hanging — yeah, hard pass.
Also, if you’re into bonuses (and who isn’t?), this place offers some legit ones. But here’s the trick: don’t just go crazy over promos. It’s smarter to go for reasonable terms than a huge bonus you’ll never be able to withdraw. I’m not saying you should go and bet the farm — please don’t. But if you’ve got a little extra spending money and you’re looking for a chill way to spend an evening, online casinos can totally deliver. Just play smart, set a budget, and don’t treat it like a side hustle. It’s for fun, not for a paycheck. Anyway, just wanted to drop my experience here in case anyone’s interested or trying to find a decent place to play. If you’ve got your own go-to sites or even some wild losses, I’m all ears — love talking shop about this stuff.
Good luck out there, and spin smart, win big ??

Examining the Dragon Tiger card game Experience: The In-Depth Look at Some of the Most Popular Online Casino Games
The realm of online gambling has seen a boom in appeal over past periods, with several options captivating players’ attention. A specific game is dragon vs tiger , a clear-cut yet thrilling table game that has become a cornerstone in digital gambling platforms. This article discusses the nuances of Dragon Tiger, assessing its gameplay, strategies, and the draw of playing for real stakes. We will also discuss the availability of the **Dragon Tiger APK** for smartphone users, offering insights into how to enhance your gaming experience.
Dragon Tiger is believed to have developed in the Cambodian region and has since spread to gaming venues worldwide, particularly in Asian gaming hubs. The game’s lack of complexity and fast-paced nature have made it a beloved option among both seasoned wagerers and newcomers. Unlike various other card games that require elaborate strategies and skills, Dragon Tiger relies significantly on luck, making it an enticing choice for those looking for a quick gaming experience. At its basis, Dragon Tiger is reminiscent of traditional baccarat but simplifies the wagering process. The game is played with a standard set of 52 cards, and the goal is to forecast which of the two hands—Dragon or Tiger—will have a higher value. Players place their bets before the dealer unveils the cards. The hand with the superior card is the winner, and ties are also likely, adding an extra layer of interest. Our website: https://dragon-tiger-in.web.app/
Players can choose several types of wagers, including betting on the Dragon, the Tiger, or a tie. The winnings varies depending on the category of bet placed, with ties typically offering the largest payout due to their rarity. This simple betting structure makes Dragon Tiger accessible to a wide audience, further contributing to its popularity in online casinos.
