Junior Deputy Explorer Program

Junior Deputy Explorer Post No. 1324

STPSO reestablished its Junior Deputy Explorer Post No. 1324 in September of 2017 with a kick-off event for the program. The program is for boys and girls interested in future careers in law enforcement between the ages of 14 and 20 (must have completed the eighth grade if under 15).

The Law Enforcement Explorer Program, which is a program of Boy Scouts of America, provides young adults interested in future careers in law enforcement an awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences and other activities.

The program introduces young people to potential careers in law enforcement or related criminal justice fields and will help them grow in strength of character, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship and patriotism.

Five areas of emphasis will be career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education and leadership experience.

Participants receive career-focused training and serve the community by assisting the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office in non-enforcement and volunteer liaison capacities.
